Information Base on Protected Areas of Pakistan

Pakistan has a diverse landscape ranging from the mangrove forests of the Arabian Sea to the gigantic mountains of the western Himalayas. There is a wide variety of fauna and flora available in Pakistan. However, over the past few years the rapid growth of population, urbanization and industrialization has presented Pakistan with the need for conservation of biodiversity. Many steps have been taken in this regard. At present Pakistan has a network of 225 Protected Areas. The management of these areas has come across as a challenge for the environmentalists. IUCN-Pakistan has developed this website to provide updated information on nature conservation programmes undertaken. The site also provides links to various research work and publications.
